RF Design Engineer

The RF Design Engineer role is available for 3 positions in the NDO (Network Design Optimize) group in Denver, CO (onsite). The position focuses on LTE radio network design, planning tool-based modeling, and RF support across site acquisition and integration activities.

Role Responsibilities

Work will center on end-to-end RF design and network optimization tasks, including technical modeling, coverage studies, and ongoing support for deployment-related deliverables.

• Perform RF design and network design optimization.
• Apply a detailed understanding of the link budget to support planning and design decisions.
• Use planning tools such as Planet EV and Atoll for modeling and scenario development.
• Manage planning tool inputs, including creating new projects, conducting tilt/azimuth optimization, and proposing new site locations.
• Use ACP (Automatic Cell Planning) as part of the cell planning workflow.
• Make recommendations to improve network design and cell plan outcomes.
• Apply detailed understanding of Monte Carlos Analysis to support design evaluation.
• Support model tuning and buildout activities.
• Support site acquisition and construction teams by integrating RF requirements into execution.
• Receive and incorporate regular updates for site acquisition changes (for example, unavailability of RAD centers or sites).
• Evaluate options to maintain coverage targets per AOI.
• Conduct RF studies based on site-specific changes identified by the Site Acquisition team.
• Recreate RF design coverage plots and update statistics as designs evolve.
• Identify replacement sites when original sites are not available.
• Create CIQ, RFDS, and BOM deliverables.
• Create Zoning Plots and support zoning hearing activities when needed.
• Perform site walks when needed.
• Conduct border coordination analysis.
• Support SCIP package review and POR Tracking.
• Support site integration teams as required.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum eight (8) years of RF engineering experience.
• Minimum five (5) years of recent experience in radio network design.
• Past leadership experience in at least three LTE projects.
• One project must include leadership for all technical activities in a large-scale deployment (major metropolitan area or state-wide geographic area), including technical organization and oversight of work, plus demonstrated excellence in communications with the team, project manager, and customer.
• Ability to work on complex technical issues and provide creative solutions valuable to Ericsson’s business.
• Ability to develop and prepare technical documentation and develop new processes.
