Roadway Engineer
Job Description
This onsite, full-time roadway transportation engineering role in Columbus, Ohio offers a comprehensive benefits package and the opportunity to lead design and delivery of infrastructure projects across Central Ohio. Ideal for a professional with 5 to 10 years of roadway/transportation experience who holds a PE license, you will mentor junior staff, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and play a key role in project management tasks.
Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the design of roadway and transportation improvement projects, including roadway widening and reconstruction, roundabouts and intersection enhancements, realignments, and new subdivision roadway infrastructure.
- Perform and oversee drainage and stormwater design with hydrologic and hydraulic analysis.
- Coordinate with utility owners and manage utility relocations.
- Design supporting infrastructure such as waterline systems, sanitary sewer systems, and highway lighting.
- Develop maintenance of traffic and traffic control plans.
- Prepare quantity takeoffs and engineer’s cost estimates.
- Coordinate directly with clients including ODOT, City of Columbus, counties, and local agencies.
- Support project management tasks including scheduling, budgeting, and QA/QC.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Ohio
- 5–10 years of experience in roadway/transportation engineering
- AutoCAD Civil 3D
