Senior Control Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to a range of control system projects, managing multiple tasks or large initiatives concurrently.
• Provide engineering support on projects led by others and assume full ownership for assigned tasks and deliverables.
• Follow direction from project leads, supervisors, and company leadership; lead, train, and mentor colleagues during start-up and commissioning.
• Read and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams and wiring diagrams; offer feedback on field conditions versus drawings.
• Expert in HMI and PLC applications; assist in maintaining the company’s QMS.
• Understand migration paths and upgrading of legacy control systems; independently design complex control systems.
• Provide instrumentation specifications for complex control systems and value engineer specifications for cost efficiency.
• Lead detailed design of complex IT systems, network infrastructure, and computer system designs as they relate to control system integration; highly competent in designing complex HMI systems.
• Author complex design documents; communicate effectively with customers and follow site standards and procedures.
• Maintain professional conduct, deliver excellent customer care, and be patient, attentive, and responsive to customer needs.
• Follow up and honor commitments; deliver tasks accurately, on schedule, and under budget; assume ultimate responsibility for project success.
• Serve as the customer’s main contact for assigned projects; identify scope changes and provide support on other projects as needed.
• Manage and delegate tasks, accurately estimate duration and difficulty, and keep schedules and budgets realistic.
• Seek opportunities for new work with customers and contractors; where applicable, oversee junior staff at project sites.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or other pertinent curriculum with relevant technical experience.
• Typically 10+ years of total experience.
• Proven track record with 3+ years as Control Systems Project Engineer II or equivalent.

Travel Required

• Overnight travel may be required up to 50 percent of the time.
