Job Description

CAI is hiring a Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer (Data Centers) to help develop and deliver the electrical commissioning scope for mission critical projects. This onsite role in Raleigh, NC focuses on planning, execution, and documentation across electrical systems, supporting safe testing practices and coordination with vendors, contractors, and customers.

What you’ll do

  • Support development and execution of electrical aspects of assigned commissioning projects from initial engagement through design reviews, checklists, safety support, script development, vendor coordination, testing, and report development through turnover to the client.
  • Develop the electrical test schedule, finalize electrical test procedures, and review project submittals for alignment with design intent, basis of design, and the owner’s project requirements.
  • Maintain project cadence for electrical systems testing and support associated Building Automation Systems.
  • Plan and execute commissioning for the electrical infrastructure of the mission critical facility.
  • Execute against the project schedule by coordinating contractors and/or vendors to complete required electrical systems testing.
  • Support safety across all electrical tests, including ensuring safe work practices are followed by the commissioning team and the customer site.
  • Support complete commissioning and performance acceptance testing for electrical infrastructure systems.
  • Perform QA/QC on electrical test procedures and on electrical equipment installation/startup.
  • Provide input to the overall commissioning plan.
  • Develop electrical commissioning reports, including contributing to a daily report to the Commissioning Project Manager, and provide daily reports for the electrical commissioning team status.
  • Attend and actively participate in customer equipment Factory Witness Test activities.
  • Assist with vendor coordination and management.
  • Perform equipment inspection to confirm build adherence to vendor submittals.
  • Provide test documentation confirming equipment is delivered, installed, tested correctly, and set to function properly for the customer.
  • Support and perform design specification review, manufacturer submittals review, one line drawing set review, and project schedule documentation.
  • Execute test scripts to confirm equipment and system operation to design specification.
  • Conduct facility walk downs, turnover, and punch list reviews.
  • Engage with customers to support a positive experience, goals achievement, and schedule adherence.
  • Look for new opportunities for CAI to provide service and value to the customer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five to seven years of Data Center Commissioning experience
  • Knowledge of OSHA and NFPA 70E safety requirements
  • Good written and spoken communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and specifications
  • Knowledge of data center design concepts
  • Knowledge and commissioning experience with Electrical Distribution Switchgear, Substations, Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS), Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Batteries, Emergency Diesel Generators & Load Banks
  • Knowledge of power quality analysis
  • Strong experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to write electrical commissioning scripts, daily reports, and final commissioning reports
  • Excellent oral and written English is required

Location and schedule

  • Raleigh, NC (onsite)
  • Extensive travel may be required (75%)
  • Work under construction site conditions
  • Candidates must have a Passport or be able to immediately get a Passport
  • Able to work in the US without sponsorship now or at any time in the future

Compensation and benefits

  • Salary: USD 91,300 - 107,300 per year

Position details: This role supports the development and execution of all electrical aspects of assigned commissioning projects, including executing against the project schedule through coordination of contractors and/or vendors to complete desired electrical systems testing.
