Senior Electrical Engineer

Engineering Resource Group is hiring a Permanent Senior Electrical Engineer to support industrial facility capital work and major-maintenance projects in Reading, PA on an onsite basis. In this role, you will lead power distribution design and project engineering activities, prepare construction documentation, and help coordinate engineering resources across multi-disciplinary teams.

Role focus

You will deliver medium voltage and industrial power system engineering, producing construction-ready deliverables and supporting project execution. The work spans design development, documentation packages for contractors, and technical review of vendor inputs, with periodic field verification of existing and planned electrical installations.

Responsibilities

• Provide power distribution design and project engineering for industrial facility, capital, and major-maintenance projects.
• Create construction document packages, including drawings and specifications, for medium voltage and industrial power systems.
• Develop and revise one-lines, schematics, panel schedules, wiring and termination diagrams, cable routing, equipment layouts, and bills of material.
• Size cable and conduit for power distribution and data systems, and interpret related controls drawings.
• Conduct field inspections of plant equipment, panels, and existing installations to confirm site conditions.
• Prepare contractor scopes of work and bid packages.
• Review contractor and vendor shop drawings and submittals.
• Coordinate contract engineering resources and outside suppliers within multi-disciplinary project teams.

Requirements

• BS Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience for otherwise well-qualified candidates).
• Minimum 10 years of electrical engineering experience in an industrial environment.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent experience.
• Strong power distribution design background, including medium voltage systems.
• Hands-on electrical system design capability, along with drafting/modeling skills in AutoCAD.
• Advanced working knowledge of the NEC and NESC.
• Experience managing contract resources and outside vendors.
• Proficiency with MS Project and MS Office.
• Power system analysis software experience (load flow, short-circuit, arc flash, coordination) is a plus.
• Experience with 3D BIM modeling software and heavy industrial (metals or similar process industry) electrical design is a plus.

Salary and education

• Salary: USD 140,000 - 180,000 per year
