Senior Electrical Engineer - Analog & Digital Design
Job Description
Senior Electrical Engineer role focused on analog and digital design for instrumentation at Uster Technologies, Inc., a Toyota subsidiary, onsite in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Responsibilities
- Lead the full design cycle for analog and digital circuits, including design, simulation, and validation using microcontrollers, FPGAs, DSPs, op-amps, ADCs, filters, and both linear and switching power supplies.
- Develop interface electronics for motion control, sensors, optical systems, and communications.
- Capture schematics and drive multilayer PCB layout with Altium Designer or equivalent tooling.
- Perform board bring-up, debugging, prototyping, verification testing, and performance characterization.
- Provide design support for existing systems and legacy PCBs.
- Communicate hardware changes to service and manufacturing teams to ensure smooth implementation.
- Evaluate emerging technologies to inform future product directions.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical and software engineers to deliver tightly integrated electro-mechanical and electro-optical systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or higher, with at least 5 years of analog/digital circuit design experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with lab instrumentation and debugging techniques.
- Proficiency with Altium Designer and SPICE-based simulation tools.
- Familiarity with standard digital interfaces: I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet.
- Ability to work independently and document progress while thriving in a structured, team-based environment.
- Bonus: experience communicating with service technicians or customers on hardware issues.
