Job Description

Senior Electrical Engineer role focused on analog and digital design for instrumentation at Uster Technologies, Inc., a Toyota subsidiary, onsite in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Responsibilities

Lead the full design cycle for analog and digital circuits, including design, simulation, and validation using microcontrollers, FPGAs, DSPs, op-amps, ADCs, filters, and both linear and switching power supplies.
Develop interface electronics for motion control, sensors, optical systems, and communications.
Capture schematics and drive multilayer PCB layout with Altium Designer or equivalent tooling.
Perform board bring-up, debugging, prototyping, verification testing, and performance characterization.
Provide design support for existing systems and legacy PCBs.
Communicate hardware changes to service and manufacturing teams to ensure smooth implementation.
Evaluate emerging technologies to inform future product directions.
Collaborate closely with mechanical and software engineers to deliver tightly integrated electro-mechanical and electro-optical systems.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or higher, with at least 5 years of analog/digital circuit design experience.
Strong hands-on experience with lab instrumentation and debugging techniques.
Proficiency with Altium Designer and SPICE-based simulation tools.
Familiarity with standard digital interfaces: I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet.
Ability to work independently and document progress while thriving in a structured, team-based environment.
Bonus: experience communicating with service technicians or customers on hardware issues.
