Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

General Dynamics Information Technology is hiring a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and sustain software and data capabilities that power analytic web applications and APIs. In this onsite role in Arlington, VA, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver frontends, production APIs, data integration services, reporting interfaces, and supporting data layers.

What you will do

• Develop clean, maintainable, and efficient Python code following best practices and coding standards.
• Design, build, and maintain data analytics web applications, dashboards, and user-facing analytics experiences using Streamlit or similar technologies.
• Create interactive data products that let users explore, visualize, filter, and interpret complex datasets.
• Build and integrate backend services, APIs, and data access layers using FastAPI or similar Python frameworks.
• Support data ingestion, transformation, validation, and aggregation to help ensure accurate and timely analytics.
• Work with relational databases such as Postgres and MySQL, focusing on data integrity, performance, and effective query design.
• Collaborate with data analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical analytics solutions.
• Create reusable software components and data services that support reporting, visualization, workflow automation, and operational analytics.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and container-based deployments, including Docker-based environments, to enable repeatable builds and reliable releases.
• Implement and maintain version control using Git to support collaboration and code management.
• Apply software engineering best practices to improve scalability, maintainability, testability, and reliability of analytics applications.
• Ensure solutions meet required security, quality, and compliance standards.
• Participate across the software development life cycle, from concept and design through testing, deployment, sustainment, and enhancement.

Required experience and qualifications

• 5+ years of related experience; work expectations may vary based on technical training, certification(s), or degree.
• Ability to work effectively both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Hands-on experience writing clean, maintainable, and efficient Python code.
• Experience building software for data analytics, reporting, dashboards, or operational data products.
• Front-end development experience with Streamlit or similar technologies for interactive analytics applications.
• Working knowledge of web technologies, RESTful APIs, containerization, backend services, and user interface development.
• Experience building and maintaining backend solutions using FastAPI or similar frameworks.
• Familiarity with relational databases including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Experience writing SQL queries to support analytics, reporting, and application functionality.
• Understanding of data quality, data validation, data transformation, and basic data modeling concepts.
• Experience with Docker; Kubernetes experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and repeatable deployment practices.
• Proficiency implementing and maintaining Git-based version control.
• Hands-on experience with full stack development and understanding of the software development life cycle.
• Clearance: Current TS/SCI Clearance with active or ability to obtain CI Polygraph is required.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Eligibility: due to US Government Contract requirements, only US Citizens are eligible.
• Location and travel: onsite in Crystal City, VA with CONUS travel of up to 60-90 consecutive days annually.
