Job Description
Akina, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer 3 to support a program delivering custom software solutions for operators and analysts at Fort Meade, MD. In this onsite role, you will operate as a full stack engineer with a strong focus on UI/UX, automation, and end-to-end development ownership across analytic pipelines and webpage visualization.
This position emphasizes collaboration with customer stakeholders and internal teams to refine existing corporate tools, automate workflows, and build reliable interfaces that help analysts and developers work more effectively in a rapidly changing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather requirements and improve existing corporate tools.
- Understand the customer mission, collaborate with team members, collect user requirements, and automate workflows.
- Design and build user interfaces and workflows that are reliable and intuitive.
- Integrate with, and contribute to, a diverse set of teams, systems, and technology stacks.
- Work with the team lead to address analyst and developer needs.
- Develop solutions for data visualizations, task automation, and workflow enhancements.
- Independently drive projects and proposals, owning the full development lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Small, cross-functional teams require experience spanning some combination of UI/UX, middleware/API, back-end, DevOps, CNO, or data science.
- Experience leveraging AI Agents to assist with software development and research (examples include Claude Code, Codex, and Pi).
- JavaScript/TypeScript/HTML/CSS experience.
- Experience writing scripts and services in Python.
- Experience developing with UI frameworks such as Angular or React.
- Familiarity with relational databases including Postgres and SQLite.
- Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD.
- Familiarity with Docker.

Nice To Have
- Prior CNO experience.
- Knowledge of network protocols.
- Experience analyzing cyber security-related data sets such as network traffic and OS events.
- Knowledge of end-to-end SIGINT collection and analysis systems.
- Rust experience.
- Experience developing software with Java.
Education and Experience
- A minimum of a Bachelor of Computer Science or Computer Engineering and a minimum of twelve (12) years of software/system development work experience.
- Alternatively, a Masters of Computer Science or Computer Engineering with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience.
- Four (4) additional years of SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
Salary and Location
- Location: Fort Meade, MD (onsite)
- Salary: USD 245,000 - 299,000 per year
