Senior Machine Learning Engineer
Job Description
Based in Seattle and on site, Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to lead the development of Generative AI UX solutions and the GenAI powered platform for AWS customers, known as Venue and Arena. You will collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to shape end-to-end AI driven experiences that blend performance with reliability and scalability. The role carries a salary range of USD 193,300 to 261,500 per year and requires at least five years of professional software development experience.
Responsibilities
- Backend Integration (AI focused): integrate with systems to manage asynchronous data flows from large language models and other AI services.
- Optimize Performance: ensure AI driven interfaces are fast and responsive, especially when handling large datasets or real-time streaming outputs.
- Design and own end-to-end systems, spanning backend services, APIs, data storage, and frontend integration.
- Build and evolve GenAI powered services that support design generation, validation, and automation workflows.
- Contribute to long-term technical vision and architecture decisions.
- Balance short-term delivery with scalable and maintainable system design.
- Collaborate with internal teams to translate needs into robust solutions.
- Contribute to hiring, mentor junior engineers, and raise engineering standards.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language
- 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
- Experience with emerging generative and agentic technologies
- Experience in machine learning and data science

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Experience with agentic orchestration
- Prior experience working with AWS applications, a plus
- Experience with Bedrock, Kiro, or Claude a plus
