Senior Machine Learning Engineer, GenAIUX at Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is an onsite role based in Santa Clara, CA. The role leads the development of generative and agentic AI UX platforms, notably Venue and Arena, collaborating with product, design, and backend teams to deliver GenAI powered services for design generation, validation, and automation.

Responsibilities

• Backend Integration (AI focused): connect with systems to manage asynchronous data flows from LLMs and other AI services.
• Optimize Performance: ensure rapid, responsive AI driven interfaces, especially when handling large datasets or real time streaming outputs.
• Design and own end-to-end systems, including backend services, APIs, data storage, and frontend integration.
• Build and evolve GenAI powered services that support design generation, validation, and automation workflows.
• Contribute to long term technical vision and architectural decisions.
• Balance short term delivery with scalable, maintainable system design.
• Collaborate with internal teams to understand needs and translate them into robust solutions.
• Contribute to hiring efforts, mentor junior engineers, and raise the overall engineering bar.

Requirements

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming experience in at least one software language
• 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scalability
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
• Experience with emerging generative and agentic technologies
• Experience in machine learning and data science

Description

The successful candidate will shape new Generative AI UX products for AWS customers and contribute to a team that transforms how customers approach design. The group focuses on design driven development and aims to democratize innovation for builders, delivering a shared platform across multiple products. We work on AI powered tools that leverage Design Systems to accelerate design, development, and validation workflows. The two products under development are Venue and Arena. Venue is an AI powered internal prototyping tool enabling AWS builders to create features using the AWS Cloudscape Design System, while Arena extends this capability to AWS teams and external customers, emphasizing 0 to 1 rapid prototyping at scale.
