Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Zotec Partners offers a Senior Machine Learning Engineer role based in Carmel, IN (onsite), focused on building and extending machine learning and AI systems that support governed access to data and AI tooling. You will design, ship, and improve models while creating AWS-based infrastructure to connect large language models to Zotec data. The work also includes defining safe and accurate AI reasoning over that data, with a strong emphasis on quality standards, compliance, and security.

What you’ll do

• Design, develop, and maintain the ML models and data integrations that power AI-driven products and internal tools
• Build and maintain tools that connect large language models to real data so AI systems can query and reason over Zotec data accurately and safely
• Own the ML lifecycle from problem framing and data preparation through training, evaluation, deployment, and ongoing monitoring
• Architect scalable, cost-aware ML infrastructure on AWS using services such as SageMaker, Bedrock, and Lambda
• Improve retrieval and data quality using knowledge representation approaches such as ontology, taxonomy, or knowledge-graph thinking

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in a STEM field); Master’s degree preferred
• 3-5 years delivering ML solutions at scale
• Proficiency in Python, and in ML model development, training, and evaluation
• Experience working with structured and unstructured data at scale
• System design experience for data and ML pipelines
• Familiarity with AWS, including SageMaker, Bedrock, Lambda, and Redshift
• Familiarity with Claude and other large language models
• Familiarity with ontology, knowledge graphs, or structured data modeling
• Experience with DevOps practices such as CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (IaC)
• Experience deploying and monitoring ML models in production on AWS
• Ability to apply knowledge representation to improve retrieval or reasoning
• Experience instrumenting models and pipelines for observability and performance monitoring
• Clear communication with cross-functional teams including Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Business Analysts, and other engineers
• Comfort balancing technical depth with practical problem-solving across performance, scalability, and accuracy
• Commitment to clean, maintainable code and mentoring through code reviews, documentation, and collaboration
• Understanding of healthcare-relevant quality and compliance and security, with general knowledge of standards such as HIPAA or PCI
• Experience expanding LLM application patterns, including retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering, and evaluation frameworks
• Experience using knowledge graphs and semantic data modeling to improve data retrieval and reasoning
• Experience following development methodologies including Scrum and Kanban
