Job Description

Allison Transmission is seeking a Senior Platform Controls Software Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and testing of embedded software controls for powertrain applications. This onsite role in Indianapolis partners with Systems, Algorithm, Calibration, and Validation engineers to deliver dependable propulsion solutions and maintain rigorous engineering standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and document embedded control software that underpins powertrain applications.
  • Conduct functional and unit testing, integration testing, system verification, and automated testing within HIL and SIL environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams of Systems, Algorithm, Calibration, and Validation engineers to evolve existing products and introduce new ones.
  • Translate functional requirements into software requirements and create corresponding designs and documentation.
  • Develop embedded software to meet defined functional requirements while ensuring maintainability.
  • Analyze software behavior to identify root causes and propose corrective actions for any abnormal operation.
  • Present work results to peers and leadership as needed and participate in design and implementation reviews.
  • Archive work products to document process compliance and support future maintenance needs.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field

Experience

  • 5+ years of automotive engineering experience developing C and C++ real-time embedded controls (preferred)
  • Experience with Visual Studio or VS Code IDE (preferred)
