In the role of Senior Process Engineer – Water Design Center Lead, you will guide a multidisciplinary team through projects from concept to bid‑ready documents, mentor staff, and engage with clients and regulatory agencies. Responsibilities

  • Lead projects from conceptual planning through bid‑ready documents, including facility and equipment layouts, design calculations, vendor coordination, and management of supporting discipline activities, while coordinating with regional offices and regulatory agencies for QA and QC.
  • Evaluate and design major process equipment for water and wastewater infrastructure, including treatment plants and facilities.
  • Support regional teams with treatment related business development activities.
  • Develop conceptual designs for water and wastewater treatment systems and prepare detailed designs with contract documents (plans and specifications).
  • Coordinate with the process mechanical team for detailed design services and ensure integration with other disciplines; prepare design calculations and estimate construction costs.
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, and quality assurance programs; ensure deliverables align with Garver standards.
  • Participate in client meetings and industry conferences; serve as a subject matter expert for the Water Business Line.
  • Recruit top talent for the process team and manage staffing, workload, and professional development.
  • Define scope, schedule, level of effort, and fees for projects; drive detailed design through coordination with other support disciplines.
  • Plan and monitor project schedules and budgets; ensure adherence to process standards and tooling, including procurement activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligible to obtain licensure.
  • 10+ years of municipal water or wastewater process design experience.
  • 2+ years of experience leading design projects.
  • 15+ years of municipal water or wastewater process design experience.
  • 5+ years of experience leading design projects.
  • Experience with process modeling software such as Hydromatis GPS‑X, Dynamita Sumo, and EnviroSim BioWin.
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling software.
  • Established relationships with municipal clients within the Water Design Center footprint.
  • Experience using Bluebeam and MS Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Proven track record in process equipment evaluation, sizing, and cost estimating; cost estimation experience.
  • Active affiliation with water and wastewater organizations such as AWWA, WEF, or WRF.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and/or Revit; ability to present to clients and professional organizations.
  • Strong teaching and coaching skills to mentor team members at all levels.
  • Broad understanding of water and wastewater treatment plant systems in campus‑wide environments.
