Job Description
In CGI’s Minneapolis organization, this senior role supports billable, client-facing consulting engagements where data engineering and applied AI come together. You will design, build, and optimize Snowflake-based data and AI solutions on the Snowflake AI Data Cloud, helping teams use Snowflake Cortex AI to work with governed client data.
As a senior member of the team, you will deliver scalable data pipelines, Cortex-powered AI data applications, and governed access patterns, while also guiding colleagues through technical mentorship and code reviews.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, incremental data pipelines using modern Snowflake features including Dynamic Tables, Streams, Tasks, Snowpipe Streaming, and Openflow.
- Develop and optimize ELT workflows using Snowpark, dbt Projects on Snowflake, and SQL, with an emphasis on declarative, serverless transformations.
- Build AI-powered data applications using Cortex AISQL functions, Cortex Search, and Cortex Analyst to work with structured, unstructured, and multimodal data.
- Use AI-assisted coding tooling such as Snowflake Cortex Code to accelerate development, debugging, and optimization of SQL and Python.
- Implement data governance and security with role-based access control, row-level security, dynamic data masking, and tags.
- Perform performance tuning and cost optimization across queries, warehouses, and ingestion, and support workload migration into Snowflake.
- Provide technical mentorship and code reviews, and serve as a trusted advisor to both client and internal teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of data engineering experience, including 3+ years hands-on with Snowflake.
- Advanced SQL development and performance tuning, plus strong proficiency in Python, with Snowpark experience strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with modern Snowflake pipeline features including Dynamic Tables, Streams and Tasks, Snowpipe and Snowpipe Streaming, and Openflow or comparable tooling.
- Practical experience with Snowflake Cortex AI, including Cortex AISQL functions, Cortex Search, or Cortex Analyst, or a demonstrated ability to rapidly build LLM and RAG solutions.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools to accelerate engineering work.
- Experience with ELT and transformation tooling such as dbt, Matillion, Informatica, or Talend.
- Solid understanding of at least one cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP, plus strong data modeling skills.
- Consulting or client-facing experience and excellent communication skills.
