Senior Software Engineer

The Senior Software Engineer at Hilton designs and delivers scalable payments microservices, leveraging Java-based back end technologies, REST APIs, and reliable data management. This role supports remote work across the United States from Hilton’s McLean, VA location, with a salary range of USD 130,000 to 145,000 per year and a requirement of at least three years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement scalable payments microservices using Java (JDK 11 and JDK 21) and RESTful interfaces, incorporating frameworks such as Spring Boot, Dropwizard, and JAX-RS.
• Develop and optimize CRUD operations across services with MySQL, ensuring performance, data integrity, and reliability for financial transactions.
• Adopt Test-Driven Development, writing comprehensive unit tests with JUnit and integrating acceptance tests with Cucumber to strengthen code quality and maintainability.
• Participate in peer code reviews via Git and Stash, offering constructive feedback to elevate coding standards, reduce defects, and enforce best practices.
• Create and sustain API specifications and service contracts using OpenAPI/Swagger Codege to enable seamless integration across internal and external systems.
• Travel up to 10 percent domestically as part of project requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Information Systems Technologies, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Three years of experience in technology, software engineering, or a closely related occupation.
• Proven experience building and enhancing enterprise backend microservices using Java, with a focus on robustness and scalability.
• Experience delivering frontend features with Angular and designing Angular components using RxJS for state management and reactive programming.
• Proficiency in building RESTful APIs with Spring Boot, JAX-RS, Jersey, and Lombok for CRUD, service orchestration, and system integration.
• Strong practice of Test-Driven Development using JUnit, Karma, and Jasmine, plus unit and integration testing with frameworks such as JUnit and Cucumber.
• Participation in CI/CD pipelines and automated builds using Maven or similar tools.
• Experience working with relational databases and agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, to deliver scalable solutions aligned with requirements.
