Senior Software Engineer

Flexagon is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to guide the design and technical direction of Java and JavaScript based applications. This on-site role in Green Bay, Wisconsin requires a seasoned engineer to establish development standards and lead engineering excellence across the product. You will collaborate with Full Stack Developers, Product Managers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, scalable software solutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to project teams across all phases of the development lifecycle
• Design, build, test, and deploy full stack applications with Java on the backend and JavaScript on the frontend
• Define and enforce best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines
• Ensure compliance with security, performance, and scalability standards
• Review designs and code to ensure alignment with standards and architectural principles
• Ensure system designs support scalability, performance, and maintainability
• Offer hands-on technical guidance and mentorship to Full Stack developers (Java / JavaScript)
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence within the team
• Address technical issues and perform root cause analysis to identify optimal resolutions
• Champion adherence to standards and best practices
• Drive ongoing improvement efforts for products and projects

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software development experience
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related field
• Deep understanding of API design, RESTful services, and UI frameworks
• Strong proficiency in Java and JavaScript
• Experience with front-end frameworks, with Vue.js preferred
• Experience with Agile project management and collaboration tools; Jira and Confluence preferred
• Experience with modern AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, ChatGPT, or Claude
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Proven track record of scalable architecture design and performance optimization
