Senior Software Engineer

Brew For Talent is building technology that supports the consumer credit lifecycle, partnering with borrowers and financial organizations through every stage. In this Senior Software Engineer role, you will own product outcomes and help deliver production systems that affect both end users and financial partners, working in a hybrid setup based in New York City.

The team values engineering decisions made close to the work, fast feedback loops, and clear written communication. AI is integrated across engineering and product development, and senior engineers remain hands-on while shaping broader technical direction.

Role overview

• Design and implement scalable systems that serve millions of borrowers and financial partners.
• Contribute to architecture and technical roadmap decisions.
• Own substantial projects from problem definition through implementation and iteration.
• Build products and infrastructure spanning consumer experiences, AI, financial operations, compliance, and client-facing platforms.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Operations to deliver meaningful outcomes.
• Mentor engineers and help drive engineering standards and processes.
• Lead or contribute to large-scale migrations and major architectural changes.

What you bring

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong technical depth, including experience building production systems at scale.
• Experience with Python, React, Postgres, and AWS.
• A strong computer science or software engineering foundation, supported by education and/or substantial professional experience.
• A product-oriented mindset and an understanding of how engineering decisions impact users and the business.
• Evidence of individual ownership and impact, not limited to narrowly defined responsibilities.
• A clear technical depth or specialization, with the ability to work across systems when needed.
• Strong written communication and comfort with a writing-first engineering culture.
• Ability to challenge assumptions, push back constructively, and participate in technical debate.
• Experience in startups, high-growth companies, or other technically demanding environments is valuable.
• Meaningful experience applying AI in production or engineering workflows is valuable; listing AI tools is not sufficient.
• Demonstrated increasing scope, responsibility, or impact over time is a plus.
