Job Description

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Charlotte, NC (hybrid) to support the Cash modernization initiative. The role focuses on modernizing and automating cash processing capabilities, with ownership spanning complex, large-scale solutions across applications, platforms, and integrations.

In this position, you will shape technology strategy and drive delivery for initiatives that improve cash management and cash forecasting, while advising leadership on engineering decisions that impact multiple groups across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Modernize, consolidate, and re-platform cash processing applications to streamline the technology landscape and enable continuous improvements in cash management and cash forecasting.
  • Internalize third-party image software using Cloud platforms, Object Store, Workflow engine, Data stream, and APIs.
  • Serve as an advisor to leadership on application, network, information security, database, operating systems, and web technology decisions for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups.
  • Lead strategy and resolution of highly complex, unique challenges, applying in-depth evaluation across multiple areas to deliver long-term, large-scale solutions that require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytics, and inductive thinking.
  • Translate advanced technology expertise and knowledge of organizational tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities into technical engineering solutions.
  • Provide vision, direction, and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and new technologies, recommending innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage.
  • Engage across the enterprise with professionals and managers at all levels, acting as an expert advisor to leadership.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • 4+ years of application development and implementation experience.
  • 4+ years of Java/J2EE Web Application Development and Spring core.
  • 4+ years of API-driven development, with experience working with remote data via SOAP, REST, and JSON.
  • 1+ years leveraging Generative AI (GenAI) technologies and AI-assisted development platforms such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Devin, Claude, or similar tools.

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience with the cash processing payments landscape.
  • Certification in Google/Azure Cloud, AWS Associate level, or Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) developer; Container and Kubernetes experience.
  • Experience in development of React.
  • Experience with Behavioral Driven Development (BDD) & Domain Driven Development (DDD).
  • Hands-on experience with BDD testing frameworks such as Cucumber and karate.
  • Strong in OOAD, multi-threaded application development, design and implementation of web applications, and design patterns.
  • Experience in Consumer Banking or other complex middleware applications.
  • Experience with Applications Performance Tuning, Scaling, Security, and Resiliency Best Practices.
  • Hands-on experience delivering high value projects in Agile (SCRUM) methodology, preferably using JIRA.
  • Previous experience working at a financial institution.
