Job Description
AGY is hiring a Senior Software Engineer in Aiken, SC (onsite) to build and own software solutions that support 24/7 manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, and continuously improve manufacturing and business applications, including AGY’s Manufacturing Information Management System (MIMS).
- Take ownership across the full solution lifecycle: requirements, architecture, development, testing, deployment, documentation, performance, reliability, and technical support.
- Partner with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and other business functions to address operational challenges and improve productivity and product quality.
- Build and evolve integrations across manufacturing equipment, databases, enterprise systems, cloud platforms, and external services.
- Evaluate and pilot emerging technologies, including AI, machine learning, automation, cloud services, and modern software-development tools to identify practical use cases.
- Support AWS/Azure environments and participate in cloud architecture, application modernization, cybersecurity, and system reliability initiatives.
- Spot opportunities to modernize legacy applications and improve maintainability, scalability, and performance.
- Grow technical capabilities through hands-on projects, training, and exposure to technologies beyond the primary area of expertise.
Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years of software/application development experience; manufacturing application experience preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, programming, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
