Senior Software Engineer – Sensors Test Engineering
Job Description
A contract Senior Software Engineer opportunity in Burnsville, MN (onsite) supporting production test solutions for commercial, military, and defense sensor products. This role works closely with engineers and technicians in a manufacturing environment, leading the development and improvement of software that helps production teams run functional testing efficiently.
Compensation is $50.00 to $55.00 per hour for a 1st shift, 5 days/40 hours per week schedule. The contract position may include a potential opportunity to go direct based on business needs. There are 2 openings.
Responsibilities
- Lead research, design, development, integration, and testing of software solutions and networks for production environments.
- Develop and maintain production test software used in manufacturing.
- Troubleshoot software issues and electrical device problems on the production line.
- Provide engineering guidance on design concepts, requirements, equipment utilization, and coding techniques.
- Collaborate with engineers, operators, and technicians to resolve production and test issues.
- Design and review major functional test software components.
- Present technical information and project findings to peers, management, and customers.
- Develop processes, procedures, and best practices for test software development.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations.
- Manage multiple projects and adapt to changing business requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 6+ years of relevant experience, OR advanced degree with 4+ years, OR 12+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Strong programming experience with C, C++, Visual Basic (VB), Visual C++, and Visual Studio.

Preferred Qualifications
- Strong Visual Basic programming experience.
- Experience with LabVIEW.
- Experience with RF and digital electronics.
- Experience working with software-controlled test equipment, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, signal generators, power supplies, and thermal chambers.
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of AS9100.
- Familiarity with avionics communication buses: MIL-STD-1553, ARINC, CAN, RS485, RS232, IEEE 1394.
- Experience with ALM/JIRA and Agile project management.
- Experience with Java or JavaScript.
