Senior Software Security Engineer

Raytheon is seeking a Senior Software Security Engineer to join its Software Product Assurance team in El Segundo, CA (onsite). The role focuses on applying software security principles to embedded real-time sensor software, supporting adherence to Software Product Assurance processes, and contributing to verification activities tied to system maturity.

Responsibilities

• Implement Software Security principles across embedded software design, development, integration, and testing for real-time sensor software.
• Develop software applications using C and C++ across multiple computing platforms.
• Ensure SW Product Assurance processes are followed on assigned programs.
• Apply understanding of real-time software design and performance implications related to specific System Security implementations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define and implement Test Driven Multidisciplinary Capability (TDMC) based execution, development, and deployment requirements.
• Work within a common development environment to support program ability to leverage specific capabilities.
• Interface with customer community stakeholders to review technical design and support verification of system maturity.

Requirements

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant software experience.
• Experience with C/C++.
• Experience with embedded processors.
• Experience with embedded OS options such as VxWorks, Embedded Linux, or similar.
• Embedded Software Security experience.
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret clearance required prior to start date.
• U.S. citizenship is required, since only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• Active and existing security clearance required on day 1.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing, implementing, testing, or fielding real-time security-oriented solutions on Department of War (DoW) programs, with embedded experience highly preferred.
• Kernel or Device Driver development experience.
• Experience with Petalinux/Yocto.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum/Kanban frameworks and DevSecOps environments.
• Knowledge of modern computer architecture and hardware technologies, including ARM architecture, and interface protocols such as PCIe, GPIO, I2C, and SATA.
• Experience with FPGAs and ASICs.
• Experience using software configuration management and bug tracking tools.
• Experience with validation and verification of software applications.

Security Clearance

This position requires a security clearance. DoD Clearance: Secret. Active and existing security clearance required on day 1.

DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.

• Location: El Segundo, CA
• Onsite: Employees in onsite roles will work primarily onsite.

Salary and Application Window

Salary range: USD 95,500 - 181,700 per year. The salary range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels, and RTX considers factors such as role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills when extending an offer.

RTX anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted, and may shorten or extend the window based on candidate flow and business necessity.
