Senior Staff Software Engineer
Job Description
Findhelp is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to help scale the platform and lead engineering efforts across cross-functional teams. This in-office role focuses on translating user needs into intuitive features and delivering value for a nationwide social care system, with opportunities to mentor engineers and shape robust, scalable solutions from either Madison, Wisconsin or Austin, Texas.
Responsibilities
- Translate user stories into intuitive experiences by deeply understanding the end user
- Own projects from inception through delivery and ongoing refinement
- Refactor legacy code while developing new features to improve system health
- Mentor engineers and support their professional growth
- Collaborate within and across teams to advance the mission of helping others
- Write high-quality code with a focus on the user experience
- Architect for robustness, extensibility, scalability, sustainability, and security
- Provide constructive feedback in code reviews and be willing to pair on tasks
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software development experience
- Experience architecting features with long-term impact
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to craft technical designs and decompose complex features to deliver value
- Experience with Python and ReactJS is preferred
- Comfort working independently in a complex Python codebase and willingness to scale up on Python if needed
- Interest in mentoring others and fostering growth
- Solid understanding of SQL, ORMs, and non-relational databases
- Preferred Google Cloud Platform experience; other cloud experience is welcome
- Knowledge of web performance strategies and metrics
- Familiarity with or strong understanding of microservices
- Ability to follow through on commitments and communicate technical needs to product partners
