Senior Staff Software Engineer - HRIS
Job Description

This Senior Staff Software Engineer role spans the entire HRIS organization, shaping platform primitives and end-to-end product workflows used by millions while guiding technical strategy across multiple teams. This onsite position is based in New York, NY.
Responsibilities
- Define and steer the HRIS engineering roadmap, setting long term direction for architecture, scalability, reliability, and usability across platform and product surfaces.
- Design and deliver core data models, APIs, services, and abstractions that underpin HRIS and are broadly adopted by product teams.
- Lead end to end engineering of key HRIS product flows such as hiring, onboarding, benefits, time, and compliance, ensuring robustness and performance.
- Head cross-organizational initiatives including global scale, regulatory compliance, and high availability that span multiple teams.
- Raise the engineering bar by guiding design and execution, mentoring senior engineers, and promoting best practices in system and product engineering.
- Collaborate closely with engineering leadership across HRIS and adjacent domains to align technical vision and deliver cohesive solutions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including technical leadership roles with impact across the organization.
- Proven track record spanning both platform and product engineering, designing distributed systems and building complex, user facing applications at scale.
- Deep expertise in system architecture, data modeling, and service design, balancing long term vision with iterative delivery.
- Experience thriving in high growth, fast paced environments where platform primitives and product requirements evolve rapidly.
- Strong technical leadership and mentorship skills with demonstrated influence across multiple teams and organizations.

This role offers a competitive salary plus benefits plus equity. The US salary range for this position is 207,000 to 345,000 USD per year, with final offers aligned to location and other factors.
