Job Description
Senior traffic engineering role based in Philadelphia, PA, focused on design, analysis, and project management for traffic signals, signing, markings, roadway and parking lot lighting, work zone traffic control, and ITS devices.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and oversight of projects encompassing traffic signals, signing, pavement markings, roadway and parking lot lighting, work zone traffic control, and ITS devices.
- Perform traffic safety and operations analyses.
- Develop or apply traffic models using Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, and VISUM.
- Manage projects ranging from minor intersection improvements to complex interchanges and corridor programs, including multimodal transportation plans and parking studies.
- Conduct quality control reviews.
- Engage in marketing and business development activities.
- Mentor and develop staff members.
- Position may require on-site work at client locations.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering required.
- Minimum of 16 years of progressive experience in traffic engineering.
- Fundamental understanding of macro, meso, and micro traffic modeling.
- Experience with VISSIM, VISUM, HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, CORSIM, and QuickZone.
- Experience designing traffic control devices including signals, signing, maintenance of traffic, pavement markings, ITS devices, and lighting.
- Familiarity with AASHTO standards, MUTCD, Highway Capacity Manual and Highway Safety Manual.
- Licensed as a Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania or eligible for comity from another state.
- PTOE certification preferred.
- Experience working on PennDOT projects is required.
- Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Exceptional communication, technical writing, and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude and ability to collaborate effectively with others.
