Software Engineer
Job Description
Parsons is hiring a full-time Software Engineer to support NASA’s SENSE program at the White Sands Complex in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The position focuses on the analysis, design, implementation, testing, and documentation of software for satellite communications systems within an Agile development environment.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, implement, test, and document software for high-profile satellite communications systems
- Collaborate with systems engineers and project managers to deliver reliable, high-quality systems to the customer
- Participate in Agile team activities including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Use Git and GitLab for source control, code review workflows, branching, merging, and collaborative development
- Use Jira to manage assigned work, update task and issue status, and support backlog and sprint tracking
- Develop unit tests and system and regression test cases
- Contribute to design and code reviews for project and product initiatives
- Assist with prototype and tool development
Required Qualifications
- Must be a US citizen
- Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science
- Not less than 5 years of related professional experience
- Experience working on a software development team using Agile methods
- Experience using Git for version control, GitLab for repository management and collaborative development workflows, and Jira for backlog, issue, and sprint tracking
Technologies
The role will involve working with Git, GitLab, Jira, SQL, Ada, C, C++, Java, LabVIEW, XML, HTML, Tcl, Python, shell scripting languages, Linux, Windows, Eclipse, Visual Studio, DEC Alphas, and OpenVMS.
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in SQL, Ada, C, C++, Java, and/or LabVIEW
- Familiarity with XML, HTML, Tcl, Python, and shell scripting languages
- Experience with Linux and Windows development environments and tools (Eclipse, Visual Studio, etc.)
- Self-motivated and disciplined, able to work with minimal supervision
- Tracking and Data Relay Satellite system experience
- Basic knowledge of computer networking
- DEC Alphas and OpenVMS experience
- Memory and performance profiling knowledge
Security Clearance Requirement
An active Secret security clearance is required for this position.
Compensation and Location
- Location: New Mexico (onsite)
- Salary range: USD 112,200 - 196,400 per yearly
