Job Description

Qualcomm Innovation Center, Inc. is looking for a Software Engineer to help build system-level capabilities spanning operating systems, Android frameworks, and the Linux kernel. This role focuses on end-to-end development that connects user space and kernel space while following Android framework and Linux kernel programming principles.

Location: San Diego, CA (onsite)

Role summary

The Software Engineer will develop solutions that operate across user space and kernel space, targeting optimal resource usage. The work includes building and integrating software components with an emphasis on OS fundamentals, Android system software, and Linux kernel and driver model understanding.

Responsibilities

  • Develop end-to-end solutions spanning both user space and kernel space, aligned with Android framework and Linux system and kernel programming principles.
  • Partner with systems, multimedia, architecture, and other teams to deliver system-level software solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • Excellent knowledge of OS fundamentals, data structures, the Linux kernel, and the device driver model
  • Hands-on experience with Java, C++ (including libraries/JNI), and Python coding
  • Hands-on experience with Android Application Framework, Android native daemons/services, and AIDL HALs
  • Hands-on debugging experience using T32 and gdb, plus crash analysis using android tombstones, T32, and crash utility
  • Experience with Git, Android Make, Android Tools, Android Studio, and Adb

Preferred qualifications

Compensation

  • Base pay range: USD 99,500 - 149,300 per year
  • Competitive annual discretionary bonus program
  • Opportunity for annual RSU grants
