Job Description

viva is hiring an entry level Software Engineer to join a product team in Johnston, IA (onsite). In this role, you will support call center software by writing, testing, and onboarding features, while supervisors review your work before implementation. The team follows agile software design practices and keeps documentation part of day-to-day development.

Schedule is 1st shift (8 am to 4:30 pm) with minimal overtime, and the position is paid at USD 23 - 28 per hour.

What you’ll do

  • Develop, code, configure, and test programs and systems for a call center environment
  • Evaluate enhancement design solutions that improve cost, quality, and performance of software applications
  • Onboard new features within the call center software
  • Analyze assigned work and define the software specifications needed to meet objectives
  • Complete documentation tasks as directed or as needed
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and team members to ensure features align with business needs
  • Follow industry-standard agile methodology for development and documentation
  • Support programming and internal users, including managing and developing applications and servers and performing data analysis

What you’ll need

  • Ability to analyze, translate, and define business requirements into technical solutions
  • Strong verbal and written communication with emphasis on persuasive communication, tact, and negotiation
  • Ability to apply engineering principles and concepts to designs
  • Capacity to manage many competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • University Degree (4 years or equivalent) in an Engineering/Technology discipline or Information Technology (or equivalent experience)
  • Programming/software development experience: 1 - 3 years
  • Software development processes experience: 1 - 3 years
  • Experience participating in Agile Development: 1 - 3 years
  • Experience working in an Agile environment: 1 - 3 years
