Software Engineer (AI-Assisted Development)

Nathan Kunes Inc is seeking a Software Engineer focused on AI-assisted development to build next-generation tools and web-based applications that integrate with custom embedded systems. This is a full-time role based in San Diego, CA, with 100% onsite work on a 9/80 schedule.

In this position, you will use generative AI and AI-assisted coding tools to design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions. You will also help translate customer needs into requirements and support design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement AI-assisted software applications
• Write requirements, specifications, and test documents
• Execute testing and document completed testing activities
• Interface with customers to develop requirements and participate in design reviews

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• 2+ years of professional experience in Software Engineering
• Experience with programming languages:
  • High-level: Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go
  • Systems: C/C++, Rust, C#
• Experience with Linux systems and Virtual Machines
• Experience in web-based UI development
• Network software engineering (TLS / HTTPS)
• U.S. citizenship required; must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary: USD 90,000–125,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications
