Job Description

The Software Engineer will contribute to the GMD Weapons System IDT IPT by developing test automation and software products within an Agile environment, onsite in Huntsville, AL as a member of the IDT product team.

Responsibilities

  • Support the GWS-IDT IPT with software products related to test automation for system-level requirement verification.
  • Develop software within an Agile framework.
  • Provide in-person, closed-area work environment 100 percent of the time as part of the IDT product team.
  • Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications software and systems that include logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and hardware engineers in planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product software.
  • Collaborate with other software and systems engineers to determine user needs; analyze system capabilities to resolve issues related to program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepare operating instructions.
  • Ensure software standards are met.
  • Support advanced portions of the software development lifecycle, including requirements definition, integration, and deployment.
  • Prioritize and adjust tasks to achieve project results with limited oversight and direction.
  • Apply systems thinking to ensure developed products are scalable, maintainable, and align with end-user needs.
  • Communicate openly and effectively with teammates and customer representatives.
  • Excel in a fast-paced environment with diverse assignments and a collaborative, cross-level team setting.
  • This position is onsite only and not offered as telework or hybrid.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or 2 years with a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 1 year of experience.
  • 4+ years of software development experience with proficiency in Java and C++.
  • Proficiency with Git.
  • Experience deploying and managing software in a Linux environment, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 (RHEL8).
  • Experience with the Eclipse IDE.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles and patterns.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 10% to support business needs.
  • Current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start.
