Job Description
Software Engineer III - Senior Associate role at JPMorgan Chase, onsite in Chicago, IL, within the Corporate & Investment Bank Technology team, focusing on design, construction, and maintenance of the AIOps solution, with a salary range of USD 114,000 - 155,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Delivers innovative software designs and implementations, tackling complex problems with nontraditional approaches and robust debugging.
- Proficient in developing applications that leverage large language models and AI tooling.
- Writes secure, production-grade code and maintains algorithms that operate in sync with related systems; reviews and debugs peers' code.
- Facilitates design-evaluation sessions with internal teams to assess architectures and technical viability.
- Uses enterprise-approved AI capabilities to accelerate infrastructure analysis, evaluate options, and document designs, ensuring outputs are validated and data handled per sensitivity and security requirements.
- Engages with software engineering communities and events to explore emerging technologies.
- Collects, analyzes, and visualizes data from large, diverse data sets to drive continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
- Creates architecture and design artifacts for complex applications, ensuring code complies with design constraints.
- Proactively uncovers hidden problems and patterns in data to improve coding hygiene and overall system architecture.
- Emphasizes reuse-first, AI-assisted practices within delivery/tooling to identify recurring infrastructure issues and opportunities, ensuring changes are validated and aligned to resiliency and security expectations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or relevant certification with at least 3 years of software engineering experience.
- Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability; familiarity with open source frameworks such as Spring Boot and the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Proficient in programming across one or more languages; hands-on experience building scalable, resilient UI microservices using React, React JSON Library, and Java, with experience in messaging (Kafka) and cloud-native database objects.
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies including CI/CD, resiliency, and security; skilled in automation and continuous delivery methods.
- Proven proficiency in software applications and technical processes within disciplines such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile.
- Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using modern programming languages and database querying languages.
- Experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to support infrastructure architecture workflows with strong validation practices and awareness of data sensitivity.
- Ability to assess and validate AI-assisted infrastructure recommendations before adoption, escalating uncertainty when necessary and ensuring outcomes align with resiliency, security, and auditability expectations.
