Job Description

Lead Software Engineer in PNC's Data and Automation organization, based in Birmingham, AL, responsible for designing, developing, and automating software solutions to maintain non-production environments for payment processing.

Position Overview

The Software Engineer Lead within the Data and Automation team helps maintain, support, and ensure the stability of non-production environments used by PNC's payment processing systems. The role involves upgrading software and hardware to stay ahead of end of life, building new instances of supported applications, addressing infrastructure vulnerabilities, troubleshooting system problems, performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence, and coordinating vendor software upgrades. It also covers configuring, provisioning, and supporting payments processing applications, creating and maintaining technical documentation, and automating routine team tasks. Responsibilities

  • Ensure software and hardware are upgraded to stay ahead of end-of-life cycles
  • Build new instances of supported applications
  • Resolve infrastructure related vulnerabilities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system problems
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures
  • Implement complex vendor software upgrades
  • Configure, provision, and support various payments processing applications
  • Create and maintain technical documentation
  • Automate routine tasks performed by the team
  • Lead the technical design and development of software solutions
  • Propose and design software solutions to address complex business needs
  • Prepare technical and procedural documentation
  • Facilitate complex problem resolution

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience
  • 3+ years of relevant / direct industry experience

Pay Transparency

Base Salary: $67,500.00 – $172,500.00

Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data, and individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with pay tied to company, business, and individual performance.
