Software Engineer Level 1
Job Description
Base-2 Solutions seeks a Software Engineer Level 1 to support the DAC (GEO + BAT Teams) effort in Annapolis Junction, MD. The position focuses on building and enhancing complex software systems, including data-intensive analytics and real-time capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze user requirements to establish software design and performance requirements.
- Design and code new software, or modify existing software, to deliver new features.
- Debug existing software and correct defects.
- Integrate existing software into new or modified systems and operating environments.
- Create straightforward data queries for existing or proposed databases and data repositories.
- Recommend improvements to documentation and software development process standards.
- Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards.
- Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
- Write or review software and system documentation.
- Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, collaborating with users and system engineers, evaluating system flow and data usage, and investigating problem areas.
- Serve as team lead at a level aligned with the software development process used on the specific project.
- Modify existing software to resolve errors, adapt to new hardware, and improve performance.
- Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and impacts.
- Design and implement complex interfaces and queries for database systems or data repositories.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.
- 7 years of experience as a Software Engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Strong Java experience.
- Experience with MapReduce.
- Cloud experience.
- Experience with distributed scalable Big Data Store (NoSQL) technologies such as HBase, CloudBase/Accumulo, Big Table, or similar.
- Experience with the Map Reduce programming model and technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, or similar.
- Experience with the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS).
- Experience with serialization technologies such as JSON and/or BSON.
