Software Engineer - Simulation
Job Description
The Software Engineer - Simulation position supports physics-based spacecraft simulation capabilities by developing models, validating behavior against real-world responses, and creating mission test scenarios. The role also supports SIT software development processes and interfaces across simulation and mission systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the physics simulator, improving model fidelity and runtime performance.
- Create new simulation capabilities aligned with evolving vehicle components and validate that modeled behavior matches real behavior.
- Author, develop, and integrate mission test scenarios, including fault and off-nominal cases.
- Build and maintain interface emulator logic.
- Model telemetry with sufficient accuracy to support meaningful regression testing.
- Support and extend development work targeting the hardware interface with the simulation environment.
- Collaborate with Systems Architecture and FSW teams on component development efforts.
- Coordinate with other teams on simulation health.
- Support internal users directly and incorporate feedback into simulation models.
- Follow SIT software development processes to support fast, quality releases.
- Implement software development, testing, and CI/CD practices that align with division and department standards.
- Develop and maintain product documentation, user guides, and model validation records.
