Sr. Full Stack Engineer

The Senior Full Stack Engineer will help design, build, and secure Trajan Wealth’s digital platforms, spanning customer-facing interfaces to the API gateway and integration layer. This 100% onsite role in Scottsdale centers on delivering scalable, compliant financial services capabilities across the stack.

Role Overview

As a senior practitioner with strong API management expertise, you will contribute across the full technology stack to enable, scale, and protect Trajan Wealth's digital products. Your work will cover frontend experiences, backend services, and the integration layer that connects internal systems with partner banks and third-party data providers. This position sits at the crossroads of product velocity and platform reliability, collaborating with product, security, and SRE teams to meet rigorous regulatory standards while maintaining rapid delivery.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate full‑stack features end‑to‑end, from React/TypeScript front ends to backend services in Java, Python, Node.js, or similar, including data persistence and event‑driven integration.
• Own the API lifecycle: design RESTful and event‑driven APIs, manage versioning and deprecation, ensure backward compatibility, and enhance developer experience via OpenAPI/Swagger documentation and SDKs.
• Configure and optimize the API gateway platform (MuleSoft).
• Implement authentication and authorization strategies suitable for financial services, including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, mTLS, JWT validation, scoped access tokens, and consent management for open banking flows.
• Partner with security and compliance to align with standards such as SOC 2, PCI DSS, GLBA, GDPR/CCPA, and SOX where applicable, supporting audits and regulatory reviews.
• Build observability into systems with structured logging, distributed tracing, metrics, and alerting on latency, traffic, errors, and saturation; establish meaningful service level objectives.
• Produce production‑quality, well‑tested code and uphold engineering standards through code reviews, pairing, and mentoring of mid‑level engineers.
• Participate in on‑call rotations for owned services, drive incident response, and lead blameless postmortems that yield durable improvements.
• Collaborate with product to translate business and regulatory requirements into clean technical designs, contributing to informed trade‑offs on scope, risk, and timeline.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with substantial frontend and backend work.
• Strong proficiency in a modern frontend framework with TypeScript (React preferred; Vue or Angular acceptable) and in at least one backend language common in financial services (Java, Python, Go, Node.js, or C#).
• Working knowledge of Dagster (or comparable orchestration frameworks such as Airflow or Prefect) and Snowflake for building data pipelines and integrating analytical workloads with operational APIs.
• Hands‑on experience designing and operating production APIs at scale, including REST and ideally GraphQL, gRPC, or event‑driven (Kafka, EventBridge) architectures.
• Direct experience with a commercial or open‑source API management platform (MuleSoft, AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management, or similar).
• Solid grounding in identity and access standards: OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, mTLS, and API key management.
• Cloud experience on AWS, Azure, or GCP, including containers (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes or ECS).
• Working knowledge of relational and at least one non‑relational database, with comfort reasoning about data consistency, transactions, and idempotency in financial workflows.
• Proven ability to ship in regulated environments, with comfort in code reviews, change management, audit trails, and the discipline required by financial services.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain technical concepts to product, business, and non‑technical stakeholders.
