Job Description

The Sr. Power Studies Engineer (Electrical) will support the analysis and modeling of complex electrical systems across industrial, transportation/rail, aerospace, manufacturing, and data center environments. The role centers on performing power system studies to inform design, protection, and safe operation.

Power System Studies and Modeling

  • Develop detailed power system models for industrial, transportation/rail, aerospace, manufacturing, and data center projects.
  • Perform load flow and short circuit studies for new and existing electrical systems.
  • Develop and refine protective device coordination studies.
  • Support harmonic studies and other power quality analyses.
  • Conduct field investigations and collect electrical system data.
  • Support electrical design activities involving medium- and low-voltage distribution, emergency/standby power, lighting, and auxiliary systems.

Arc Flash Analysis and Technical Recommendations

  • Perform arc flash hazard calculations and assist with mitigation recommendations.
  • Prepare detailed power system study reports and technical recommendations.
  • Support arc flash hazard studies and mitigation strategies as part of study deliverables.

Protection, Compliance, and Collaboration

  • Review studies and designs for compliance with NFPA 70E, IEEE, and NEC requirements.
  • Work with licensed electricians and project personnel to verify field conditions.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal engineering teams.
  • Participate in client-facing technical discussions.

  • SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, ETAP
  • Microsoft Office
  • Bluebeam Revu
  • NFPA 70E, IEEE, NEC

Work Arrangement

  • Remote or hybrid options are available depending on project responsibilities.
  • Occasional travel to client and project sites will be required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
  • 2+ years of professional experience as an Electrical Engineer, Power Systems Engineer, or Power Studies Engineer.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience using SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, or ETAP.
  • Experience performing power system analysis, including arc flash, short circuit, load flow, or protective device coordination studies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu or similar PDF/document management tools.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, clients, contractors, and field personnel.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits.
  • Ability to satisfy applicable client background and site-access requirements.

Compensation and Location

  • Location: Austin, TX (hybrid)
  • Salary: USD 80,000 - 145,000 per yearly
