Sr. Principal EO/IR Systems Engineer
Job Description
Senior Principal EO/IR Systems Engineer, onsite in Melbourne, FL, responsible for designing, developing, integrating and testing electro-optical/infrared systems with MBSE, requirements management and supplier coordination.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop electro-optical system architectures; perform hardware/software integration and testing; conduct certification and requirements analysis.
- Interpret, allocate, tailor, write and flow down requirements across all levels of a system architecture.
- Perform trade studies, document architectures, analyze performance, and evaluate Technology Readiness Level in relation to supplier offerings.
- Execute MBSE while capturing requirements, interfaces, behaviors, structures and parametrics.
- Collaborate with engineers and program stakeholders to integrate mission planning solutions that meet platform objectives.
- Develop and maintain supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of work.
- Establish supplier evaluation criteria and conduct technical evaluations, documenting results and selections.
- Provide technical management of program strategic partners and suppliers, including development, acquisition, acceptance, qualification, system integration and test support.
- Review supplier development documents and support technical interchange meetings and design reviews.
- Identify, plan and execute informal and formal testing of subsystem requirements in lab; troubleshoot hardware.
- Perform aircraft ground and flight testing of subsystems to validate and verify requirements and achieve sell-off.
- Lead technical discussions with the customer and maintain daily interaction with management, external personnel, customers, and sub teams.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 8 years of related professional/military engineering experience; or Master’s degree with 6 years; or PhD with 4 years.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance and any program access required for the position within a reasonable period, as determined by the company.
- Knowledge of EO/IR phenomenology.
- Experience decomposing, deriving, allocating and tracing requirements from system to component level.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to work effectively in a close-knit team environment.
- Experience engaging directly with internal and external technical and programmatic representatives.
