Sr. Principal Systems Engineer
Job Description
Join V2X in Indianapolis, IN on site to drive multi-domain systems engineering across the full lifecycle, guiding both technical work and program execution while representing the company to customers. As a Senior Principal Systems Engineer, you will collaborate with the Chief Engineer and Program Manager, steer cross-disciplinary teams, and serve as a key liaison to external stakeholders. Responsibilities
- Support the Chief Engineer and Program Manager in all aspects of product-area execution and customer interface.
- Apply deep technical domain knowledge, strong communication, and the ability to cultivate close customer relationships.
- Join the leadership team that represents V2X to customers and to senior leadership.
- Provide technical and programmatic guidance throughout the lifecycle to a multi-domain development team, proactively driving issue resolution.
- Deliver program support from concept development through requirements, functional analysis, design reviews, system implementation, integration, verification, and validation.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen capable of obtaining a Secret clearance.
- Minimum 15 years of engineering experience in systems, software, or hardware disciplines.
- Experience delivering leadership, technical direction, and guidance to multi-discipline teams.
- Ability to own the engineering scope within the program and drive tasks to ensure cross-functional teams meet technical requirements.
- Proven track record leading development, integration, and test of military avionics or similarly complex systems.
- Experience with requirements development, hardware/software integration, and verification activities.
- Experience developing, integrating, and testing complex systems on air, sea, or ground platforms.
- Experience with embedded hardware and software subsystem design, integration, certification, transitioning products from development to production, and obsolescence management.
- Experience establishing technical baselines (requirements and architecture), leading development teams, and creating or reviewing Engineering Change Requests.
- Experience conducting technical analyses such as AoA or trade studies, performing risk and opportunity analyses, and tracking risk mitigation.
- Strong communication skills for engaging internal and external stakeholders, including leading design reviews with customers.
- Experience collaborating with government customers such as US Army, US Navy, USMC, or USAF.
- Experience creating trade studies and analyzing technical data.
- Prior roles such as Lead Systems Engineer, Verification Lead, IPT Lead, or Product Owner are valued.
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods, tools, and languages.
- Solid understanding of the Systems Engineering Lifecycle and related processes.
- Experience managing suppliers and guiding the development of subsystems and components.
- Experience mentoring engineers across levels.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related STEM discipline.
- Valid U.S. Passport is required.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
