Job Description

Senior software engineer on the DynamoDB Capacity and Customer Entitlement team in Seattle, WA (onsite), focused on production systems that automate capacity and enable fleet-scale expansion across global infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Define the team's engineering direction and technical roadmap
  • Architect, implement, and maintain production-grade capacity management systems that optimize fleet growth across DynamoDB regions and fleets, including load balancing, routing, storage, log propagation, backups/restores, and replication
  • Own the full software development lifecycle for capacity automation projects, from design docs to implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing operations
  • Create automated workflows to process customer capacity requests, achieving high auto-approval rates while optimizing infrastructure investment
  • Develop integration points across DynamoDB architecture, building deep systems knowledge from load balancing through storage and replication
  • Build monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions that reveal capacity health, usage patterns, and optimization opportunities across global infrastructure
  • Participate in on-call rotations, resolve incidents with durable fixes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with DynamoDB service teams, product managers, and leadership to ensure technical solutions align with business goals
  • Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and design discussions while promoting best practices for AI-assisted coding tools
  • Influence technical direction through architecture discussions and strategic planning sessions

Requirements

  • At least five years of professional software development experience (non-internship)
  • Five or more years of programming in at least one software language
  • Five or more years leading design or architecture efforts for new and existing systems, including patterns, reliability, and scaling
  • Proven experience mentoring, serving as a tech lead, or leading an engineering team
