Job Description

Dover Fueling Solutions is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer with a focus on embedded electronic hardware development for dispenser products. The role combines technical leadership, design standard setting, and mentorship, with a clear path toward future management responsibilities.

Position Summary

This role specializes in embedded electronic systems and hardware development for dispenser platforms. It requires technical leadership, innovation in design, and active mentorship of engineers, with an explicit trajectory toward management responsibilities.

Position Responsibilities

  • Design and review electronic hardware components, including schematics and component selection.
  • Provide guidance on PCB design and layout best practices, covering signal integrity, power integrity, EMC/EMI, and Manufacturability, even when layouts are performed by others.
  • Lead the technical roadmaps for electronic hardware platforms and ensure scalability across product families.
  • Establish design guidelines, workflows, and tools for the electrical engineering organization.
  • Collaborate with global cross-functional teams (software, mechanical, systems, manufacturing) to align requirements and ensure seamless integration.
  • Mentor both junior and senior engineers, delivering coaching, feedback, and accountability in design reviews.
  • Exhibit strong leadership qualities, including accountability, decisive judgment, and influence across multiple teams.
  • Direct troubleshooting and root cause analysis of complex system-level issues involving hardware, software, and PCB interactions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and payment certification standards (PCI, EMC, UL) as applicable.
  • Support new product introductions by partnering with operations and manufacturing teams.
  • Devote effort to developing people leadership and team management capabilities with an eye toward future growth opportunities.

Qualification Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in electronic hardware design and development with increasing responsibilities.
  • Strong system-level understanding of embedded hardware architectures, microcontrollers, and integration.
  • Proven track record of leading technical projects, mentoring peers, and influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated collaboration across disciplines.
  • Familiarity with PCB design tools (Altium, OrCAD, or equivalent) is preferred but not required.
  • Committed to developing leadership and management capabilities for future career progression.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SolidWorks for electro-mechanical integration.
  • Advanced problem-solving methodologies (DFX, DFSS, FAST, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with microcontroller programming (C) and system-level validation.
  • Experience with communication bus protocols such as SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, and USB.
  • Knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes and design constraints for volume production.
  • Experience in compliance and certification processes (PCI, EMI/EMC, safety).
  • Previous experience leading cross-functional initiatives or mentoring other engineers.
