This onsite Substation Engineer II role supports clients across the United States with protection and control deliverables and physical substation layouts. Responsibilities
- Develop conceptual designs and project execution plans for substation work
- Prepare engineering estimates and project schedules, including cost assessments
- Design physical substations with yard layouts, plans, sections, grounding, lightning protection, control buildings, raceways, AC/DC power systems, and related bills of material
- Create protection and control designs including panel arrangements, single-line and three-line diagrams, AC schematics, DC elementaries, and wiring for equipment and relay panels
- Perform calculations for studies and reports such as grounding, lightning protection, and AC/DC load analyses
- Draft equipment specifications for procurement and factory acceptance testing
- Lead coordination of design activities with Civil/Structural, Networks, Transmission Line, and other departments
- Develop and improve processes, tools, and technology implementations
- Engage with clients and external personnel through regular meetings and correspondence
- Conduct quality reviews of colleagues' work and designs
- Provide short-term field support during construction
- Support business development and marketing initiatives
- Contribute to relay settings, 3D modeling/design, or participation in industry technical committees as opportunities arise
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program
- Minimum of two years of related experience; a master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience
- Professional Engineer registration strongly preferred
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE/ANSI standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to tackle complex problems requiring adaptation and modification of standard approaches and procedures
Compensation
Salary range: USD 86,507.20 to USD 102,024.00 per year. Compensation will vary based on experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other compensation
Employee may be eligible for participation in the company’s annual discretionary bonus program, contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against KPIs that vary by year and employee.
