The Senior Civil Engineer, or Engineer III, will support the modification, expansion, or development of electric substations for Duke Energy Florida in Lake Mary, FL. The role emphasizes complex substation civil design work, mentoring junior engineers, and reviewing consultant designs within a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering and technical guidance to identify, analyze, and resolve complex problems within the area of expertise, with an eye toward long-term, system-wide impacts.
- Help achieve business goals through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of activities in non-standard situations, seeking solutions within the specialty.
- Prepare thorough technical reports, correspondence, calculations, and sketches, conducting analyses to propose process improvements and standards relevant to the assignment area.
- Lead engineering studies with full technical responsibility for planning and coordinating complex projects; apply extensive expertise to manage projects and disseminate knowledge to strengthen the unit's competitive position.
- Maintain broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures; analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes and develop relevant standards; stay current with new developments, technologies, procedures, and equipment.
- Develop positive working relationships to coordinate work activities; demonstrate strong oral and written communication; maintain accurate records and files.
- Support company goals and represent the organization in a professional manner.
- Coach and mentor other engineering and non-degreed engineering professionals.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
- Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience, or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program and four (4) years of relevant experience.
- A Master’s degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree.
