Job Description

AK Aerospace Technology Corporation is seeking a Systems Engineer to support mission and instrument systems engineering for NASA/GSFC missions. This onsite role focuses on developing requirements, system architectures, analyses, and test plans while managing interfaces and conducting EMI/EMC analyses to ensure mission readiness. Based in Greenbelt, Maryland, the position places you at the core of spacecraft hardware and mission operations, collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver robust systems.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate across spacecraft subsystems including instruments, command and data handling, thermal control, power conversion and distribution, and mechanism control.
  • Refine the electrical system and grounding architecture to align with spacecraft requirements.
  • Work with leads to ensure designs meet program requirements and that interfaces remain consistent across subsystems.
  • Generate requirements, specifications, ICDs, analyses, and test plans; review documentation, attend reviews, resolve issues, and report results to the customer.
  • Perform EMI/EMC analyses and develop the necessary documentation.
  • Support troubleshooting of test anomalies during system-level integration and test, and collaborate on anomaly resolution with team members.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field with 5-10 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong background in satellite systems, including familiarity with power and grounding architectures and digital interfaces.
  • Knowledge of verification and validation of performance requirements through laboratory, EMI, vibration, and thermal vacuum testing.
  • Familiarity with NASA systems development, configuration management, and quality control procedures.
  • Experience generating requirements, writing specifications, creating test plans, and preparing and presenting material for design reviews.
  • Background in end-to-end mission requirements management, interface requirements definition, requirements tracing, validation and verification.
  • Experience with NASA Risk Management Guidelines and Processes and Tools.
  • Must be a US citizen or a US Permanent Residence with the ability to pass a Government background investigation.
