Job Description

Paragon Force, Inc seeks a Systems Engineer to support U.S. Navy submarine programs, focusing on design inputs, test planning, and the integration of shipboard energy storage systems, with emphasis on Nickel-Zinc batteries. This on-site role is based in Bloomfield, Indiana, offering a salary of USD 120,000 per year. The position involves engineering support, analysis, and DoD acquisition activities, without budget management or project scheduling responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support and develop requirements for electrical, mechanical, controls, and mitigation solutions, addressing the identified system and the interfaces within the integrated shipboard environment.
  • Assist with engineering investigations related to power and energy systems, energy storage enclosures, and supporting processes.
  • Conduct investigations with familiarity of failure analysis methods and material testing, including non-destructive and destructive techniques for Nickel-Zinc, lithium-ion, and silver-zinc energy storage chemistries, as well as enclosure and mitigation systems.
  • Review and evaluate studies, analyses, evaluations, and assessments provided to the Government.
  • Characterize large-scale battery performance, develop failure modes and effects analyses, explore Nickel-Zinc fire mitigation concepts, prototype containment solutions that are battery-agnostic, and assess the viability of Nickel-Zinc and other Next-Generation energy storage options.
  • Support DoD acquisition activities and acquisition management processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or related Engineering discipline.
  • 3–7 years of relevant systems integration experience, including hardware and software.
  • Proven ability to design and manage interfaces between multiple subsystems within a system.
  • Experience with system-level troubleshooting and integration testing.
  • Working knowledge of requirements development, modeling, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, signal interfaces, power systems, or control systems.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with submarine, naval, or other undersea systems integration programs.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD, NAVSEA, or DoD interface and qualification standards.
  • Background with battery systems, propulsion systems, power electronics, or related subsystems.
  • Experience coordinating with government engineers, OEMs, and field support teams.
