Job Description

Lead transmission planning and complex project work for a hybrid role in Cedar Park, TX.

  • Transmission planning studies to support the Cooperative’s strategic initiatives
  • Large transmission project leadership, including design oversight and construction monitoring to maintain engineering design compliance
  • Analysis of the transmission system and development of supporting engineering deliverables
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations to establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications
  • Prepare and review technical specifications and analyze technical data to determine limits and variables for product, process, or materials specifications
  • Study technical drawings, transmission line specifications, and topographical maps to ensure installation and operation align with standards and customer requirements
  • Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to support engineering tasks and analysis
  • Prepare engineering drawings, maps, and construction specifications
  • Research material specifications and resolve basic material issues
  • Investigate customer or public complaints, identify scope and extent of issues, and recommend remedial actions to management
  • Oversee project production efforts to help ensure work is completed satisfactorily, on time, and on budget
  • Coordinate design and project activities spanning manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and project management to meet specifications, codes, and customer requirements
  • Direct and monitor work as a department and project leader; serve in a lead capacity when the manager is out of the office
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to other department engineers
  • Act as an engineering resource to other departments with efficient, effective responses
  • Collaborate with Cooperative management, consultants, members, developers, and government entities on assigned projects
  • Assist with submitting potential projects to Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) Regional Transmission Plan (RTP)
  • Represent the Cooperative in the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) process
  • Stay current on advances in technology
  • Maintain security of confidential information
  • Provide regular and prompt attendance and perform other related duties as assigned

Responsibilities (Leadership)

  • Lead activities including training, effectively communicating policies and information to subordinates, and ensuring employees understand responsibilities
  • Serve in a lead capacity when the manager is out of the office

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas
  • 10 years of related work experience
  • Valid Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of computer systems including setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data, configuration, and processing information
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and processes
  • Knowledge of power system transmission materials (structures, foundations, insulators, anchor bolts, etc.)
  • Skills in CCN and RTP processes
  • Time management and ability to prioritize and manage changing priorities
  • Ability to lead and direct a work team
  • Ability to read and understand transmission construction design drawings
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Ability to listen and understand information verbally and in writing
  • Ability to anticipate, identify, analyze, and resolve conflict and problems

  • Location: Cedar Park, TX (hybrid)
  • May require travel
  • May require work more than 40 hours per week

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • May be required to stand, reach with hands and arms, stoop and kneel
  • May be required to sit or stand for long periods
  • May be required to lift, carry, push, pull, or move up to 25 pounds
  • Exempt employees receive a fixed bi-weekly salary to compensate for all hours worked during each pay period

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range: $131,104 - $163,880 per year
  • Minimum starting base pay: $131,104 + KPI Bonuses + Competitive Benefits
