Transmission Project Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptual, preliminary and final detailed design of new and upgraded transmission lines, including material procurement and construction support through energization.
• Under the direction of a Senior Engineer or Project Manager, guide a project team in developing design calculations, detail drawings, specifications and construction documents for power line facilities.
• Create project scope documents.
• Perform finite element design modeling using PLS-CADD software.
• Engineer structures and foundations, including loading, framing, and foundation analyses.
• Develop loading, framing and plan and profile drawing sets.
• Prepare staking sheets, sag charts and other construction exhibits.
• Produce material and construction specifications.
• Perform additional design tasks as needed.
• Assist the Project Manager with planning and execution of projects, including client and stakeholder coordination, mentoring design staff, ensuring project quality, and supervising design engineers, designers, drafters and support staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
• 6+ years of project and design engineering experience, or an acceptable combination of education and experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organization and planning abilities
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Commitment to quality and accuracy
• Willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules
• A PE license is preferred
• Advanced knowledge of transmission engineering principles
• Expertise with applicable codes, standards and design tools
• Basic project management execution skills and ability to oversee and direct design personnel on a project team
• Subject to client-mandated drug and background checks
• Occasional travel or driving is required; must meet ECI auto insurance carrier requirements
