Transportation - Water Resources Engineer
Job Description
Join Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP in the Pittsburgh, PA office to support transportation-focused water resources and stormwater projects.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other WRA offices on projects across other regions
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic (H/H) studies and drainage analyses
- Design stormwater management (SWM) and erosion and sediment control (ESC) for transportation projects
- Develop environmental permit submissions and contract document development
- Complete quality control and peer reviews
- Support marketing and business development activities
- Mentor and develop staff
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- 5-10 years of experience across hydrology, hydraulics, drainage, stormwater management, and ESC design
- Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain within 6 months through comity from another state
- Experience designing drainage, stormwater management systems/BMPs, erosion and sediment pollution controls, and preparing contract documents
- Experience with PA Turnpike Commission and PA municipalities is a plus
- Knowledge of PennDOT and PA Turnpike specifications, policies, and procedures preferred
- Experience with H/H design software including HY-8, NRCS (TR-55/TR-20), HydroCAD, StreamStats, HEC-RAS, and similar tools
- Hands-on experience with MicroStation CADD; understanding of 3D design, including OpenRoads Designer, is a plus
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others
