Responsibilities
- Coordinate vehicle testing events with customers on domestic and international proving grounds
- Travel up to 50% to customer proving grounds for ride events during peak season
- Prepare Bilstein components, resources, and equipment for each ride event in collaboration with internal and external teams
- Document ride event activities, including vehicle setups, damper data, valve code information, customer feedback, and improvement suggestions
- Maintain expertise in subjective and objective vehicle dynamics analysis; identify on-vehicle gaps to customer requirements and translate them into hardware or software changes
- Deliver post-event reports and coordinate future event needs with project teams
- Organize damper builds for short-term capability studies and report results to teams
- Ensure damper characteristics meet Bilstein standards and customer specifications
- Align with the system integration department on tuning strategies and specifications for semi-active dampers
- Provide the T&I department with vehicle dynamics requirements and anticipated market needs for new passive and semi-active damper systems
- Collect and analyze on-vehicle ride data for objective evaluation
- Lead problem-solving activities related to damper settings affecting dynamic behavior and the industrialization of proposed settings
- Facilitate communication between customer vehicle staff and Bilstein project teams on vehicle dynamics topics
- Develop strong relationships with customer contacts to deliver technical vehicle dynamics solutions during early development phases
Requirements
- 3 to 5 plus years of experience in vehicle dynamics with a focus on chassis systems
- Hydraulic and software damper tuning experience, including the ability to adjust valving on tunable dampers
- Data collection experience with tools such as DEWESoft or HEADAcoustics
- Experience across vehicle development life cycles, including prototype to production transitions in vehicle dynamics
- Statistical analysis experience with an understanding of capability studies
- Valid US driver’s license with an exceptional safety record
- Valid US passport and ability to travel internationally
- Extensive experience interpreting engineering drawings and models
- Experience with measurement technology including load cells, calipers, height gauges, and displacement sensors
- Experience with damper testing machines and software (Roehrig, CTW, MTS, LabA7, Gröpler, )
- Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project, Outlook, PowerBI, PowerApps and related MS Office tools
