VG Software Engineer 4

Probity Inc. is hiring a VG Software Engineer 4 in Chantilly, VA (onsite) to support ongoing software development and O&M efforts. This role focuses on delivering project management and technical support across search, document collaboration, and AI-driven predictive and recommendation capabilities within a Sponsor Lean Agile framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage projects and perform software development activities within budget for capabilities including search enablement across structured and unstructured data sets.
• Federate searches across external data sources.
• Coordinate, tag, organize, and support collaboration on documents across the organization.
• Use machine language approaches to discover content that would otherwise be missed through Boolean methods.
• Apply artificial intelligence to conduct predictive analysis and provide recommendations based on historical data.
• Maintain uninterrupted operations for search and documentation collaboration capabilities and meet Sponsor-approved timelines for new development activities.
• Comply with the Sponsor’s Lean Agile methodology, including participation in Lean Agile scrums, sprints, and grooming sessions.
• With Sponsor oversight, manage progress for Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) product integration and development efforts.
• Provide O&M support for existing system capabilities, including unstructured-data search, federated search, and document coordination activities.
• Provide after-hour support on an “on call” basis.
• Consult and coordinate on problem resolution, task scheduling, new resource requirements, and task clarification.
• Work in partnership with an integrated team of staff and contractors.
• Understand the Sponsor’s target cloud environment (such as AWS or Azure) and coordinate with Sponsor security, operations, testing, and other teams to provide system information and technical support.
• Comply with the Sponsor’s Risk Management (cyber security) Framework to address and mitigate vulnerabilities and risks across the project lifecycle.
• Create, manage, and update Jira tickets, including using a Sponsor-approved tracking system for issues and problems.
• Support the dissemination of products to access-controlled users, including developing and deploying web applications and user experiences for analytic product dissemination.
• With Sponsor direction, provide prototype solutions to demonstrate feasibility and potential benefits, such as unified backend architecture or redesign and modernization of backend infrastructure.
• Implement application changes based on Sponsor requirements, support technical assessments to right-size and scale cloud services, and update applications as partner requirements, legislation, policy, and new system functionality change.
• Conduct functionality and performance testing for existing applications and develop modifications in compliance with the Sponsor’s architectural and Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) process.
• Under Sponsor oversight, engage end users, stakeholders, and the project team to understand end-user goals and business requirements.
• Create and communicate interaction and UX design decisions using appropriate artifacts (e.g., user stories, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups) and maintain a continuous feedback loop for UI/UX decision-making.
• Track work requirements and action items to meet program deadlines and deliver development requirements as requested by the Sponsor.
• Assist in navigating the security accreditation process.

• (Mandatory) Demonstrated hands-on experience developing Applications and RESTful web services using technologies or something similar to Solr, Elastic, Postgres, Java, Scala, RDS, Spring Framework, Spring Security, and Spring Boot.
• (Mandatory) Demonstrated hands-on experience working with non-relational database systems such as DynamoDB (other on-the-job database experience accepted).
• (Mandatory) Demonstrated hands-on experience with and troubleshooting of Internet/Web related protocols and technologies (e.g., Tomcat, Nodejs, Web Services, and SSL).
• (Mandatory) Demonstrated hands-on experience developing JUnit and Jasmine tests and experience with testing platforms such as Jest or Karma.
• (Mandatory) Demonstrated hands-on experience working with DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Nexus.
