Waterfront Marine Engineer
Job Description
Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP is seeking a Waterfront Marine Engineer for its Structural/Marine Group in the Richmond, VA office. This role supports engineering work tied to waterfront facilities, spanning structural analysis and design through vessel berthing and mooring evaluation, along with preparation of construction-ready documentation.
The position centers on technical delivery across structural concepts, field inputs, and documentation using CADD and BIM workflows, with coordination across disciplines and project stakeholders.
Location and Compensation
- Location: Richmond, VA (onsite)
- Salary: USD 90,000 - 185,000 per yearly
- Minimum experience: 5 years
Education
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with Structural Concentration
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis, design, and detailing for a variety of waterfront facility types
- Complete vessel berthing and mooring analysis
- Conduct field investigation, document findings, and develop related reports
- Create plans, sections, and details using CADD and BIM platforms
- Develop reports, cost estimates, and specifications
- Coordinate with other disciplines and relevant project stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 5-10 years of relevant experience
- Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with Structural Concentration or similar
- Experience using structural design and analysis tools including RISA, STAAD, OPTIMOOR, etc.
- Experience with vessel berthing and mooring analyses
- Experience with drafting and modeling software including Revit and AutoCAD
- Knowledge of building codes and standards including ASCE and ACI
- Skills: effective verbal and written communication
- U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with Structural Concentration preferred
- Professional Engineer license preferred
